The Quiet Rivers Rage

The Quiet Rivers Rage

Eyes wait patiently, eagerly, silently
As the man walks up to the stage
He holds within a quiet rage
As he flips through to find a page
Scriptures read aloud for all that are near
A rebuke is not what they had hoped to hear
He is quietly angry to the point of tears
He recalls to them all of the shortcomings
And the stagnancy that has been forthcoming
As the words were stunning and somewhat numbing.
"We are not here for the forgotten", he spoke aloud
"We have served only ourselves", he said as he addressed the crowd.
"This is not God's love in demonstration.
We have been the Almighty's character defamation."
" They look at us and see how we turn them away,
And with the same lips, to our God we pray.
Because they are the losers so riddled with sin,
Have we forgotten that is were we all begin?
We are not any better than they were at the start
yet now we've hidden our sin deep in our hearts."
Silent onlookers sit motionless in pews
A few have accepted the heart wrenching news
That through plastic smiles and empty handshakes
That anyone could see the heart of these fakes.
The directness of the man and confrontational tone,
Surely that wasn't a message meant for their own.
A justification for action rolls through their heads
as only a few, select few, will truly care what was said.
Something has to change, something has to give.
As we are the walking dead pretending to live.

The Spider Queen

The Spider Queen

Strings of silk shimmer bright
on this, our moonlit scene.
You spin your circles and bat your eyes
while never speaking what you mean.

How many men  have you caught up
within your intricate web of lies
you speak so sweetly as their pulse does race
And you drain them of their life

Venom drips from around your lips
As you surround fools with fallacy.
and for but a moment I pity them
as they do not see the truth I see.

That you are nothing more than a spider
masquerading as a queen.

Shadows and Sacred Flames

Shadows and Sacred Flames

The charred ashes of the yesterdays flutter in the wind.
From the coals of this broken soul, a fire smolders deep within.
The sadness soaking this heart makes it tough to burn as tinder.
Such coldness that is dripping in keeps the healing hindered.

The matches sparked have long grown dark as light still grows dim
Onlookers glance from fire pits, wondering what’s to come of him.
The rain of life is pouring down in an attempt to drown him out.
He recalls in better days he was such ablaze as a fire within a drought.
Dirt gets kicked and it sometimes sticks, smothering him again
Yet some have come to admire his enduring fire amidst the earth, wind and rain.

Sometimes through neglect the flicker fades into a rising smoke.
But within it all, the rises and falls a broken fire can still be stoked.
With the breeze of new life breathed, a raging inferno can be awoken.
Heat turns to spark catching to the heart when kindnesses are spoken.

I love you

 I love you

Riding on the heights of daylight,
your smile so bright,
full of warmth and life,
with each second passing slowly,
golden rays dance across your skin,
Along your curved lips,
Amidst your whiskey colored eyes.
Scintillation. Radiance. Beauty.
Words fail at the sight of all that you are...
All that you embody.
The wind slips so slowly through your hair,
Your laughter lingers along the air,
Erasing pressures or angers and cares...
I love you...
Three small words meant to express
the vastness of this tenderness...
My sweet, you are the very best of all that is meant to be loved.

and I love you.
and forevermore I will love you.

Of Sin and Grace

Of what manner is grace that a man as myself might partake
Riddled with sin and failure?
When I stand on my own, I fall to your throne confessing mistakes
of perceived allure.
How can forgiveness divine be called mine when I am a consistent repeat offender?
When my spirit grows weak and boredom sets in until to the flesh I surrender.
How is there justice in grace when I turn from your face and indulge in what tears me asunder?
Your forgiveness extends to me once and again and I am filled with your love and wonder.
How have you set thee free when my captor is me and my prison is a fleshly cage?
Will there ever be peace, will the fighting ever cease in this internal war we wage?
How can I face you when I have disgraced you and torn a piece of your name apart?
I thank you my King, of your grace I will sing, of how your Spirit restores the heart.
Inside this being there is a dichotomy; I'm seeing of forgiveness and demanding of debt,
After a mans fall, he must stand and walk tall because it is the destination we must never forget.

Samson

 Samson.

Was I like Samson in my defiance,

in rebellious self reliance?

Overlooking you in a field of grain,

Forgetting you are the source of strength

Blinded by love and beauty

not clearly seeing my duty

or my calling and direction

as to be of God’s reflection.

To love and to lose,

To see an anger consume.

To see a God forgotten,

By the scent of perfume

It was my dichotomous loyalty

and heart’s duality

that has rendered me to calamity

He was blind when Samson saw,

what I now believe I see

That along these pillared stone lined walls,

My enemy is me.

Oh King Of Romance

Oh King of Romance,

How it must hurt you in your longing for your bride.

How you must yearn to hear but a single word from her lips.

How you must burn with a desire to just sit by her side, to hold her close.

How you must wait for a glance and what that glance must do.

How hard it must be waiting for the moment where you can be reunited again.

How much restraint you must hold.

Oh King of Romance,

I weep for you, as I weep for me.

For truly, you have made Man in your image
